I’m a lyricist and arranger starting my musical journey many years later than expected. I spent a lot of my life disliking poetry because my mother was an English teacher, and then I was forced to translate French verse at university. Yet decades later, I publish translations of French poetry online, and I started writing songs for someone I hadn't yet met. Words have always come naturally to me, and I have a good musical ear, but I have never had the means to bring them to life. At 55, AI gave me the session band and vocalist I needed to finally awaken the music I’ve carried inside me for a lifetime.
The first song
I spent two days trying to find a song to send to someone I was getting to know. The problem was not finding romantic songs. There are millions of them. The problem was finding one that stayed exactly where we were.
We hadn’t met yet. We were close, but neither of us wanted to make declarations that belonged to a later chapter. I couldn’t find that song, so I wrote So Near Yet So Far.
